25th April 2026 | CrossFit ISCA, Exeter
Some days just hit different.
The VOLT Family descended on CrossFit ISCA, Exeter, on Saturday 25th April for a morning that was about more than just training. VOLT Athletes travelled from London, Salisbury, and the depths of Cornwall to come together for one reason... to support one of our own.
Tom Kingdon is chasing the CrossFit Games. And we're backing him every step of the way.
The Morning
The day opened with a bang. High intensity, low skill, no excuses... pedal to the floor from the first rep.
Paired up and fully committed, athletes went head to head across four stations:
- 3RM Bench Press
- 3RM Deadlift
- Max C2 Bike
- Max Row
7 minutes on. 3 minutes rest. All out attack. Tom Kingdon was on the floor throughout, walking the room, offering encouragement and integrating into every pair that had come out to support him. That's the kind of athlete he is.
Tom Kingdon vs Dan Mugford
Then the main event.
Tom took on CrossFit ISCA owner, VOLT Athlete, and elite CrossFit competitor Dan Mugford... having only had three hours' sleep after just touching down from the Athens Throwdown.
The workout was this:
FOR TIME:
3 Cleans @ 100kg
2 Cleans @ 120kg
1 Clean @ 135kg
21 Toes to Bar
15m Handstand Walk
3 Cleans @ 100kg
2 Cleans @ 120kg
1 Clean @ 135kg
18 Chest to Bar
15m Handstand Walk (with a pirouette)
3 Cleans @ 100kg
2 Cleans @ 120kg
1 Clean @ 135kg
15 Bar Muscle Ups
15m Backwards Handstand Walk
(Handstand Walk completed in 2 x 7.5 lengths)
Programmed by Shane Caswell, Founder of Off The Grid Training.
The bar was moving, the room was buzzing, and Tom Kingdon was an absolute wizard on his hands. It highlighted everything about the levels these athletes are at. Unreal to watch.
Team Metcon
If you thought the day was done, you were wrong.
A 20 minute AMRAP to close it out:
DB Snatch | Burpee Over DB | Toes to Bar — 12-9-6, YGIG
(All 3 sets must be completed before switch over)
Tom got involved again and this time teaming up with VOLT Founder George Jones and putting him through his paces.
Q&A with Tom
The day finished the way it should... relaxed, open, and honest.
Tom sat down with the room for a Q&A, offering real insight into his season, what's changed in his training to reach the next level, and what it actually takes to compete at the top of the sport. No fluff, just genuine advice from an athlete who lives it every day.
The Community That Made It Happen
None of this happens without the right people.
Red Bull brought the energy on the floor... thank you to DJ Waksey for setting the perfect tone all day. MaxiNutrition kept everyone fuelled. Hope Brodie made the entire day run like a dream. Gerda Verga captured every moment.
And a huge thank you to Dan Mugford for opening the doors at CrossFit ISCA and letting us bring the extended VOLT Family to Exeter.
Nearly £600 Raised
Every pound from the day goes directly to funding Tom's CrossFit Games season. We're not done yet.
If you weren't there and want to be part of it, you still can be. Every contribution counts.
