Tom arrived at Drumsheds with a bag full of nerves, and honestly... it showed. Day 1 was tough. A workout he'd tested in his own gym and clocked at 17 minutes, he got time capped on the competition floor. Finishing 47th in a field of 49 wasn't the start anyone wanted, least of all Tom.
The home crowd was behind him, the Open scores were strong, and there was real expectation in the air... the eyes were on. That's something he had to deal with, and learn to deal with fast. The weight of expectation is a real thing, and Drumsheds was a lesson in it.
But as the competition went on, something shifted. The confidence started to grow. A heat win. A solid 4th in the sandbag and ring muscle-up workout. Tom found his rhythm and finished exactly where plenty of people had predicted he would... before Day 1 knocked him sideways.
15th overall is a solid result and a real platform heading into the French Throwdown. It just makes you think... where would he have finished if Day 1 hadn't been so wobbly?

Philroy had a slow start to Day 1 too... but he knew what was coming. That's the thing about Philroy. When things don't go to plan, he doesn't dwell on it. He just moves forward, treats it as a learning curve, and gets on with understanding where his strengths are and where the work needs to go.
That character absolutely shone on the big stage at Drumsheds. He's been going through some transition in his journey and it was genuinely great to see him out there enjoying the dance floor. Present. Composed. Himself.
The highlight of the weekend? Philroy pulling 293kg... what we believe to be the biggest deadlift ever pulled at elite level competition. A 13kg PB. On that stage. In that moment. All with the VOLT NovaBelt on his back.
21st in a tough field is real progress. Great building blocks going into the season, and a clearer picture of where the work needs to go to keep building.
