What is MagnaSafe™?
MagnaSafe is an integrated magnet system that holds your gymnastics grips flat on your wrist between movements. No twisting, no wasting seconds. It is fitted as standard to every train.VOLT grip, and no other grip has it.
Eighteen months of grips that did not hold
The idea arrived in a sauna, after a session of bar muscle-ups and double unders. Our founder had spent eighteen months looking for a grip that worked.
Five pairs lived in the gym bag. None of them performed the way they were supposed to. Every one was bulky enough that between movements they ended up twisted round the back of the hand.
A small problem, right up until it costs you seconds you cannot get back.

MagnaSafe is a magnet built into the grip itself, paired with a magnet-compatible sweatband on your wrist. Come off the bar, flick the grip back, and it holds flat where you left it.
That is the whole idea. It is not a strap, a clip or a cuff, and there is nothing to fasten or unfasten between movements. The system is design-protected and exclusive to VOLT.
It matters most where transitions are the workout. Gymnastics into barbell work. Double unders. Burpees. Anything where the grip has to be out of the way for thirty seconds and back on your hands immediately after.
How to set up MagnaSafe
- The magnet sits in the seam of the sweatband. Wear the band with the seam on the inside of your wrist, closest to the elbow.
- The second magnet sits at the top of each grip.
- Line the two up and they snap together, holding the grip flat on your wrist until you need it again.
It releases when it needs to
A magnet holds until it does not. That is the point.
If something goes wrong on the bar, the grip releases rather than holding you to it. A system that fastened your hands to the rig would be a worse product, not a better one, whatever it did for your transitions.
That is why it is a magnet and not a strap.
The sweatbands are not a freebie
MagnaSafe needs somewhere to land. It is built into both the grips and the sweatbands: the magnet-compatible sweatband is the other half of the system, which is why a pair comes in the box with every set of grips rather than being sold to you as an add-on.
They are also sold separately, in two versions, with magnets and without, so they work whether or not you use MagnaSafe.

Both are carbon fibre and fingerless. The choice between them is about the bar you train on, not the level you train at.

Is MagnaSafe just a magnet?
It is a magnet built into the grip and a magnet-compatible sweatband on your wrist, working as a pair. One without the other does nothing.
Will it hold my grip on the bar?
No, and it is not meant to. It holds the grip on your wrist between movements. On the bar, it releases rather than holding you to it.
Do I have to buy special sweatbands?
A magnet-compatible pair comes in the box with every set of grips. If you want spares or a different colourway they are sold separately, in versions with and without magnets.
Does every VOLT grip have it?
Yes. UltraGrip+ V2 and HyperGrip+ V2 both carry MagnaSafe as standard.
Can I use MagnaSafe grips with sweatbands I already own?
The magnets need a magnet-compatible band to hold to. Ordinary sweatbands will not do it.
Who makes it?
train.VOLT. It is design-protected, exclusive to VOLT, and no other grip has it.
