VOLT Sweatbands
A sweatband is a small thing that solves a specific problem. Sweat runs down your forearm, reaches your palm, and the bar stops being predictable. Everything else is detail.
The train.VOLT wrist sweatbands are made from ultra-soft, breathable material with a seamless fit, so they stay where you put them through a full session rather than working their way down your arm.
They are also half of MagnaSafe
This is the part that makes them different from every other sweatband you can buy.
A magnet sits in the seam of the band. A second magnet sits at the top of each VOLT grip. Come off the bar, flick the grip back, and it holds flat against your wrist exactly where you left it. No twisting round the back of your hand, no using your other hand to sort it out, no lost seconds on the transition.
That is why a pair comes in the box with every set of grips. The system needs both halves, and one without the other is just a sweatband and just a grip.
What they do on their own
Plenty of people wear them with no grips at all, and they do three jobs.
- They stop sweat reaching your hands. On a long set of pull-ups or toes-to-bar, the moisture running down your forearm is what turns a secure hold into a slipping one.
- They give you somewhere to wipe. Face, forehead, the back of your neck between rounds, without breaking to find a towel.
- They reduce friction where a grip strap sits. If you train in grips most days, the band takes the rubbing that would otherwise land on bare skin.
How they should fit
One size, worn on the wrist rather than the forearm. The band should sit just above the wrist bone, snug enough that it does not travel when you swing, loose enough that you are not aware of it.
If you are using MagnaSafe, position matters slightly more. The magnet needs to sit on the inside of your wrist so the grip meets it when you flick back. Get that the wrong way round and the system will not hold. If the magnet ends up flipped, turn the band the right way round and carry on. No harm done.
Looking after them
- Do not leave them in the bottom of a kit bag. Same rule as grips. Damp is what ages them.
- Wash them regularly. They are doing the job of absorbing sweat, which means they need cleaning like anything else that does.
- Two pairs if you train most days. One in the wash, one in the bag.
Common questions
Do they work with grips other than VOLT?
As a sweatband, yes, they work with anything. The MagnaSafe magnet only pairs with a VOLT grip, because the matching magnet is built into ours.
Can I wear them on my forearm?
You can, and some people prefer it for wiping. Bear in mind that on the forearm they are not catching the sweat before it reaches your palm, which is the main job, and MagnaSafe will not reach.
Are they one size?
Yes. One size, and the material has enough give to sit comfortably on most wrists.
How many come in a set?
One pair in your chosen colourway.
Do I need the magnet version?
If you train in VOLT grips, take the magnets. That is the whole point of them. If you already have a setup you like and just want a sweatband, the version without works exactly the same in every other respect.
Will they stop my hands sweating?
No. Nothing does. They stop the sweat that runs down your forearm from adding to it, which is a different and more solvable problem.
